Jiri Prochazka wants the light heavyweight title, and he doesn’t care who he goes through.
After coming up short twice against reigning champion Alex Pereira, Prochazka appeared to be stuck in a difficult position within the division. That was until he scored an epic come-from-behind KO against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 320. The win seemingly has everyone eager to see ‘BJP’ fight for gold again.
If he does, however, it’s unlikely it will come via a trilogy fight against Pereira.
After ‘Poatan’ reclaimed the 205-pound crown with a stunning 80-second knockout over Magomed Ankalaev, the Brazilian bogeyman appears set on a path to heavyweight.
Chances are Pereira had his sights set on facing the winner of Tom Aspinall vs. Ciryl Gane, but after their fight ended in an unfortunate no-contest at UFC 321, Pereira appears to have moved on from a long-rumored feud with another former two-division titleholder, Jon Jones.

If Pereira vs. Jones becomes a reality, Prochazka believes he should be one of two competing for the vacant light-heavyweight title in 2026.
“There is a big possibility in this fight, but I don’t think so if the UFC will agree,” Prochazka said. Bloody elbow while discussing a possible third meeting with Pereira. And second, he’s moving up to heavyweight, so I think he should vacate the title.
“I don’t know, I don’t really care what his next step will be. Like I said, I want to fight for the title, and right now I don’t care if it’s Alex Pereira, Ulberg or Ankalaev. If it’s going to be for the title, let’s go for that.”
