Alex Pereira vs. Jon Jones in the White House “is not dead” according to MMA Insider

Dana White recently announced that Alex Pereira has decided to vacate his light heavyweight championship and continue his search for three-division glory.

The former UFC middleweight champion and two-time light heavyweight titleholder had made it clear he wants to go for a third title since defeating Magomed Ankalaev in a UFC 320 rematch last year to reclaim the 205-pound throne.

Now that he has confirmation that he is finally moving up to the heavyweight division, it is expected that he will face Ciryl Gane or Jon Jones next for the interim 256-pound title or possibly the Undisputed Championship if reigning champion Tom Aspinall decides to leave.

Insider claims there was talk of Alex Pereira fighting Jon Jones on June 14

Ariel Helwani has said on his show that there were some conversations recently about “Poatan” fighting Jon Jones on the White House card.

Helwani thinks Jones vs. Pereira on June 14 could happen, and if not, the Brazilian will fight Ciryl Gane for the interim or vacant heavyweight gold.

“There have been some conversations about him [Alex Pereira] to fight Jon Jonesand there have been talks of him fighting Jon Jones on the White House card… Jon Jones on the White House card is not dead… There has been talk about this. Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira at heavyweight.

Helwani added that something big is in store for “Poatan,” and if he can’t fight Jones, he will fight Gane for the interim or undisputed/empty gold.

“They would play Alex vs. Ciryl Gane as an interim…Alex Pereira wants to make history. The only thing bigger now than being a three-division champion is being the first man to beat Jon Jones. That’s what he wants. If he can’t get that, he’ll fight for interim or undisputed/vacant gold…A big fight is coming for Alex Pereira.”

Bones” and Pereira both wanted to engage in discussions; however, Dana White has not fully supported Jones’ desire to fight in the White House, especially after the latter decided not to fight Aspinall in 2025 and opted to leave and retire.

But for the June 14 card, Jon Jones has reaffirmed his desire to be on it, and although he now has arthritis in his left hip, he has confirmed that this medical issue will not stop him from competing on the South Lawn.

Meanwhile, Dana White announced yesterday that he will announce the fights of the White House event next week, so fans will have to wait a little longer to find out if Jones and Pereira will face off on the South Lawn of the White House, and if so, will they fight for the interim belt, the undisputed, or a custom-made White House belt?
