Former two-division UFC champion Alex Pereira has admitted that he was not hacked earlier this year and that his actions on social media in response to the UFC, his were.
After rumors, Pereira had plagued a retirement pension that he might be taken over for a slightly heavyweight title shot in favor of Jiri Prochazka. The tweet that has since been removed can be seen below.
The Brazilian mixed war artist then released a tweet stating that he had been hacked.
“I have received a lot of messages, get messages from everyone who saw a message from my Twitter,” said Pereira in Portuguese.
“I didn’t even know. I was hacked.
“It has been a while since I posted something – you see it. But I have been hacked and I will solve it.
“I don’t even know what’s going on. I have a great relationship with UFC. People like to do bad things. That’s.”
When speaking with MMA reporter Ariel Helwani on Wednesday, the former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight champion gave the truth.
“A little bit was miscommunication, because Alex found out via social media and things like that,” said Pereira’s coach and translator, Plinio Cruz, speaking for Pereira. “So he was upset, that’s why he sent the [Tweet] But he regretted it. The conversation continued with further explanation about the situation.
