It marked the 10th time this year that Alcaraz dropped the second set after winning the first in a best-of-three set match. The Spaniard has won nine of those collisions, and after his victory over Rublev he referred to his love for the fight.

‘It’s just [about] Accepting the moment and accepting that I play a third set, accept that it will be a very tough fight, and I think that’s great, “said Alcaraz.” They were extreme conditions, but I just like to play for this energy. I am just very happy to live these kinds of experiences, so I just remind myself of it at these moments. ”

Alcaraz remains on track to make top seeds and defending champion Jannik Sinner in the final for a fourth consecutive tournament in which they both characterized, but the rivals have taken considerably different routes to the last four. Sinner, who faces Terence Atmane on Saturday, has to drop another set, while Alcaraz has surrendered his Serve in each of his four games and has been advanced twice after three sets of fights.

“I have always maintained positive thoughts, although I lost focus a few times during the second set,” said Alcaraz. “Playing someone like Andrey, when you lose the focus on two or three points, it [can] Costs the set or almost the competition. I just stayed mentally strong and I am most proud of that. ”

After breaking Rublev for 5-3 in the last set and walking a powerful roar, Alcaraz then threw in another tight service game that he opened with a double error. The 22-year-old Spaniard was forced to draw his mental reserves deep in the decision maker after Rublev was leveled on 5-5, but he did this in style to extend his ATP Masters 1000 winning streak to 15 games, according to titles in Monte-Carlo and Rome.

Rublev strived to become the first man to defeat Alcaraz for the final of the tournament since David Goffin in Miami in Miami, and raised his aggression and reduced his casual fault in the second set to just four. However, the ninth seed was unable to maintain that form in a decision -maker, which was delayed for six minutes to solve a medical problem in the stands.
