Carlos Alcaraz sprinted on Wednesday evening in the Cincinnati Open quarterfinals with a convincing 6-1, 6-4 victory over Italian Luca Nardi

The World No. 2 won 13 of the first 14 points of the game and closed the first set in just 27 minutes, making a late start to his playing night match, after the Center Court schedule was influenced by a longer rain delay earlier in the day.

The 22-year-old won a long-term, eight-five match on 4-4, where Nardi Double was confused on back-to-back points to have the second seed served for the match.

“I think this game was the best for me in this tournament so far,” said Alcaraz in his interview on the field. “At the start of the tournament, I just really wanted to get better every day, after every exercise and every game. I think I do it, which I am really proud of. I am just very happy with the way I felt the ball today and the way I moved.”

The Spaniard, which is sown to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner to meet in the final for the fourth consecutive tournament in which they both characterized, then plays the winner of the ninth seed Andrey Rublev and Argentine Francisco Comesana.

Alcaraz, a 21-time titlist on tour level and is looking for his first Cincinnati-Kroon. He reached the final in 2023 and held the championship point before rival Novak Djokovic stormed back to lift the trophy. Alcaraz has a seasonal record of 51-6, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss index, including five titles.
