Carlos Alcaraz caused injuries to the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships on Saturday, where he moved past Belgian Zizou Bergs 6-4, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals in Tokyo.

With his last victory against Jannik Sinner in New York, the Spaniard also won the first place in the PIF ATP ranking list of the Italian. Alcaraz leads Sinner with 2,590 points in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin, which acts as a barometer for ATP at the end of the year 1 presented by Pif Honors.
Previously, Holger Rune wasted little time to reach his fifth quarterfinals of the season and the American Ethan Quinn fell 6-4, 6-2. Rune is looking for his second title of the season, after triumphing during the ATP 500 event at Clay in Barcelona. “I really tightened my focus at the start of the sets,” said Rune. “I tried to hit quickly, it makes me more comfortable. He is a good player and has some weapons, but it was about trying to take them from him and play on my conditions and start quickly, made me better and made me more relaxed.”
