At least one thing will remain with Carlos Alcaraz forever.
No, not Juan Carlos Ferrero. A tattoo commemorating his pair of US Open titles.
Alcaraz, whose partnership with his old coach ended earlier this month, recently got tattoos of both the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. The 22-year-old Spaniard triumphed at a Grand Slam for the first time in his career at the 2022 US Open and also lifted the trophy New York last summer.
“I’m going to do two things,” Alcaraz said during his post-match press conference after beating Jannik Sinner in the final. “I made a bet at the beginning of the tournament: the Brooklyn Bridge. And of course the Statue of Liberty. I’m going to do both. And the date. Because this one is special. I have to get a tattoo twice.”
The world number 1 also has a strawberry for Wimbledon (titles in 2023 and 2024) and the Eiffel Tower for the French Open (titles in 2024 and 2025). He has not won the Australian Open yet.
‘I’ll take a kangaroo [tattoo] Definitely, that’s my idea,” Alcaraz said at the 2025 Aussie Open before losing to Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. “The only thing missing is lifting the trophy, but if that happens, it’s definitely the plan.”
