Albania’s government AI-driven virtual assistant, who helps citizens to obtain everything from driving licenses to pension applications and judicial files, has just become one of the world’s first AI politicians.
“Diella is the first cabinet member who is not physically present, but was almost made by AI”, and Jas is the task of keeping Albania “100% free of corruption”, Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama Reportedly said In a national meeting of the socialist party on Thursday.
The task will be to supervise all government contracts of goods and services from the private sector, which has led to a series of corruption scandals in Albania in recent decades.
Reports state that Diella, which means ‘sun’ in Albanian, if AI-driven virtual assistant on the E-Albania platform was served, as a result of which citizens and companies had helped different state documents through speech orders and issuing documents with electronic stamps to reduce bureaucratic delays.
Diella reportedly helped Spend more than 36,600 digital documents and offered nearly 1,000 services via the platform.
However, Rama did not give many details about who would be responsible for mistakes made by Diella, what human supervision would exist, or how the risks of the AI would be manipulated.
AI -Bots find its way through governments
It marks one of the first major government roles of an AI -bot in history. Last May, Ukraine unveiled “Victoria Shi,” a spokesperson generated by AI who offers updates on Foreign Affairs.

Albania seems to have embraced AI more than crypto in recent years. While he draws up a crypto -regulation framework in May 2020 – one of the most comprehensive pieces of crypto legislation in Europe at that time – the Bank of Albania continued to give warnings with regard to the risks related to trade crypto, delaying acceptance.
Albania plagued by corruption for decades
Although Albania remains a peaceful country, it has long been a hotspot for organized crime, in which some officials have been accused of benefiting from contracts.
Earlier this year, Honor Veliaj, the mayor of Tirana, and Malignant Meta, the former president and leader of Albania of the Opposition Freedom party, were accused of corruption.
