The public hospital, operated under a public-private partnership between the WA government and St John or God Health Care, opened in 2015.

Federal Labor told the ABC that the dedication would provide extra hospital beds, control theaters, ICU and neonatal care beds and a redesign of midwifery and neonatal unit to serve the enormously populated area.

The WA government would collect the rest of the account and contribute to an extra $ 50 million after having already committed almost $ 105 million to upgrade the ED of the Midland Health Campus in February on the recent State Election Campaign Trail.

“That is why we invest together with the Albanian Labor government in projects that will make a meaningful difference for patients.”

‘Catching up production’: AMA

The Australian Medical Association WA President Dr. Michael Page said that the Midland Area and Eastern Suburbs of Perth were “left behind” in terms of hospital capacity.

“The population in the Midland area has certainly grown rapidly, so it does need health services to be proportional to the population and to predict future population growth,” Dr. Page.

“This is a welcome announcement, but there is probably a bit of catching up here.”

Dr. Page said that the upgrades of the infrastructure that were needed to coincide with training more health workers.

“As our health system grows … of course we have to ensure that we train enough nurses, train enough doctors,”

he said.

“We don’t think we train enough doctors in West -Australia, there is not enough training in the specialties we need to serve our population as well as possible.”
