Harbhajan said all the players in the squad are match winners, and the former India spinner backed the Men in Blue to become the first team to win back-to-back T20 World Cup titles.
“The team is really good. I had said Ajit should get 10/10 for the team. I felt a bit bad for Shubman but he will get more chances soon. All the players are match winners in their own right. I hope we can win back-to-back World Cups because we have that team,” Harbhajan Singh told NDTV Sports.
Harbhajan Singh is backing Suryakumar Yadav to get back into form during the T20 World Cup
Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav had a disappointing run with the bat in 2025. In 19 T20I innings, he finished with a paltry average of 13.62 and failed to register a half-century. Harbhajan, however, expressed his confidence in the Mumbai batsman and said he will come out with full force during the T20 World Cup. The cricketer turned pundit also praised Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah.
“Suryakumar hasn’t scored many runs, but when the World Cup comes, we need big players to shoot. He will shine bright in that big game. Abhishek (Sharma) can win games on his own. The form Hardik (Pandya) is in, he is a key player. We also have Arshdeep (Singh) and (Jasprit) Bumrah in pace,” Harbhajan said.
The Asian giants have been placed in Group A in the T20 World Cup, alongside the USA, Namibia, Pakistan and the Netherlands. They will start their campaign on February 7 with a match against the USA at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, before the T20 World Cup, the Indian team will play three ODIs and five T20Is against New Zealand.
