Eddie McGuire hosts Nine’s Melbourne Cup coverage from Flemington.
Nine’s reporting on the Melbourne Cup Carnival starts from Saturday, November 1, but will be preceded by preview shows from tonight.
It runs until Stakes Day on Saturday, November 8.

Host Eddie McGuire will bring the latest updates and excitement from Nine’s expert Flemington studio, while James Bracey will be joined on the editing floor by leading international horse racing expert Francesca Cumani, who will deliver her last-minute observations of the horses through her deep technical knowledge, prestige and fresh perspective on form, training techniques and the global contenders.
The reveal of the 2024 coverage returns as rugby league legend and former trackworks jockey Billy Slater is back on track for his insightful on-track interviews with the winning jockeys post-race. Expert on-field tips will come from David Gately and Ally Mosley, who will provide the best preview for punters, while Tony Jones will see all the action up close and speak to trainers, owners, jockeys and special guests to bring the story of each race to life for the audience at home.
Off the route, all the glitz, glamor and exclusive celebrity access from the Birdcage come to life with Clint Stanaway, Sylvia Jeffreys and Jelena Dokic bringing the color to one of Australia’s most loved events.
Matthew Hill will host the 165th running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup as the world’s richest handicap race comes back to life.
The Fashions on the Field competition will showcase the extraordinary style of racegoers as the 9Network roams the Birdcage and Fashion Garden to capture the elegant designs. 9Now will be the one stop destination for all your Melbourne Cup content, including previews, documentaries, interviews with winning jockeys and trainers and the history that makes this race so special.
In addition, the Today, Weekend Today and 9News Melbourne teams will broadcast live from Melbourne’s Southbank Promenade and Flemington. The team includes Karl Stefanovic, Sarah Abo, Danika Mason, Alicia Loxley, Tom Steinfort, Clint Stanaway, Alison Piotrowski and Lizzie Pearl, who will bring their personal insights to Cup week and tell the behind-the-scenes stories.
