Ailin Perez calls out ‘coward’ Tracy Cortez after UFC Mexico victory

Ailin Perez says now is the best time for Tracy Cortez to fight her. Perez took on women’s bantamweight veteran Macy Chiasson at UFC Mexico on Saturday at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico. After dropping the first round, Perez returned to earn a unanimous decision, which is her sixth win in a row. Perez next called arch-enemy Tracy Cortez.

Perez later elaborated on her call to Cortez. Perez says this is the best time for Cortez to fight her because ‘Fiona’ won’t give her the chance when she’s champion. Perez says that even though Cortez is always bothering her, she is nowhere to be found after the call.

Looking for a fight

“I have already conquered the bantamweight division,” Perez told the UFC. “All the girls in the weight class are afraid of me. And the time to fight Tracy is now. Because if I’m the champion, I’m not going to give her that chance. So the fight is now. Tracy Cortez always tries to fight me outside the cage, she always tries to look for me. And when I try to look for her, where is she? Nowhere, she’s a coward.” Argentina’s Perez (13-2) initially called Cortez (12-3) after her victory over Darya Zheleznyakova at UFC Paris. However, Cortez said it didn’t bother her. Following her victory over Karol Rosa at UFC 311 last year, Perez took down Cortez, who also attended the event. Cortez responded, claiming Perez tried to shake her hand when they ran into each other. Cortez is 1-2 in her last three and is coming off a submission loss to Erin Blanchfield.
