Pakistan started their T20 Tri series campaign at a peak with a 39-run victory over Afghanistan in the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Pakistan first hit 182 for 7, led by Captain Salman Ali Agha’s Briljante 53 out of 36 balls. Sahibzada Farhan gave a flying start with 21 out of just 10, while Mohammad Nawaz’s Quickfire 21 of 11 and Fahraf’s 14 out of 5 increased the finish.
The bowlers of Afghanistan struggled for consistency, in which Fareed Ahmad went 47 points in his four overs, despite picking up two wickets.
In response, Afghanistan folded before 143 in 19.5 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (38 out of 27) and Rashid Khan (39 out of 16) fought hard, but regular wickets derailed the chase.
Haris Rauf was the striking with 4 to 31, while Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz each grabbed two.
With this victory, Pakistan got early momentum prior to the Asia Cup, while Afghanistan has to regroup quickly before they are confronted with hosts.
