As usual, there is speculation about what Newcastle United’s home shirt will look like next season.
Once you get past New Year’s Eve, the rumors start and it becomes a matter of what to believe?
There are so-called ‘leaked’ images of Newcastle United’s new home shirt circulating, often clearly images generated (made up!) by fans (or others) simply looking for attention.
Last year, United fans didn’t have to wait as long as usual to discover reality.
For the first time in six years, on the last day of the 2024/25 season, the team wore the Newcastle United 2025/26 home shirt (kit) for the following season.
Not that it brought much luck, Newcastle United lost 1-0 at home to Everton.
Or perhaps it was a bit of luck, as Aston Villa managed to lose at Man U and that meant United claimed fifth place in the Champions League via the Premier League placings, despite the loss at St James’ Park.
As in previous years, images circulated online in early 2026 claiming to show what the Newcastle United 2026/27 home shirt will look like.
At this point in time, given how far in advance the designs will be put together, it is possible that someone has seen the potential design of the new kit, or even the signed off final copy.
The Times has now claimed an exclusive claim, saying their information is that Adidas and the club ‘AThey plan to make a significant departure from their traditional black and white stripes for their home kit next season. Instead of the famous bright, black and white stripes that Newcastle play in, the white stripes will instead have a series of thinner black lines running through them. It is a clear and deliberate move away from this season’s bold black and white stripes, and is part of a three-year kit plan implemented by supplier Adidas.”
So what could this look like?
The Times says: ‘There are already images of a new comic circulating online. These are very close to the kit that Newcastle will launch in a few months and wear next season.”
The newspaper exclusive using this image circulated online as an image of what the Newcastle United 2026/27 home shirt will look like…
The Times further says: ‘The new design will have just one thick black main stripe on the front of the kit. It will then have two wide white stripes with black stripes of varying thickness running through them. There will be black stripes on the side of the kit. The black stripes on the sleeve become pinstripes.’
As a reminder, the image above is not what the paper says will be the exact design, but they do claim that their information is that the Newcastle United 2026/27 home shirt will be very similar to this.
The Times also shares what they claim is knowledge of the 2026/27 away shirt, plus a reminder that we could soon see a change when it comes to the club’s main shirt sponsor: ‘Newcastle will return to a club badge with a magpie on the front for their away kit next season – a shirt last used in the 1980s. It will be featured on a navy blue kit. The front-of-shirt sponsorship agreement with SELA expires at the end of this season.’
What is certain is that Newcastle United are in for a huge summer in terms of decisions/changes on both the football and business sides of the club.
