Jesse Hamilton, a political protector of mayor Eric Adams who supervised the city’s office, has fallen.

Hamilton resigned on Thursday after being charged with a conspiracy clothing with regard to alleged collaboration with Ingrid Lewis-Martin, a former top employee of the mayor, to accelerate certain developer projects and send city contracts to preferred players. As deputy commissioner of real estate services for the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, Hamilton used the 400 lease contracts of the city in private property, with more than 22 million square feet, although that responsibility was removed from him at the end of last year.

In a statement, DCAS commissioner Louis Molina said that the focus of his desk is ‘not repellent’.

“DCAS is the backbone of the city council and with that weight has never fallen on just one person,” he said. “Jesse Hamilton has offered his resignation, and I accepted it, effective today.”

Rafael Carvalho, formerly the staff chief of the Association Commissioner for Association and Real Estate Management, has been appointed as acting deputy commissioner.

Hamilton came to DCAS as a legal adviser in August 2022 and quickly rose through the ranks. The lease contracts he supervised was in control of the control after state officials had grabbed his phone in 2024, together with those of Lewis-Martin and Cushman & Wakefield broker Diana Boutross when they met in September of a trip together.

That autumn restructured DCAs his real estate division and has re-assigned the authority to carry out lease contracts to Shameka Overton, executive deputy commissioner for asset and real estate management, according to the agency.

The charges released on Thursday accuse Hamilton of playing a role in an alleged schedule that the projects of developer Yechiel Landau help to accelerate. He reportedly tried to use his authority at DCAs to send a city contract to an apartment building of Queens that ultimately did not flourish. A separate indictment, who does not call him as a defendant, also describes Lewis Martin who instructs Hamilton to give priority to owners of real estate chosen by hand by developer Tian Ji Li for city contracts for asylum seekers’ care.

Hamilton is mentioned as a suspect in one indictment, but Lewis-Martin is confronted with charges in all four charges released on Thursday. The two, along with six other co -suspects, did not argue guilty.

Earlier in his career, Hamilton worked as a legal adviser to Adams when he was a senator. When Adams left the legislative power to become the president of Brooklyn Borough, many saw Hamilton as his man -made successor. He served two periods that represent the 20th district in Brooklyn.

In a statement, Adams, who is already confronted with a re -election, that he has not been accused of misconduct and said that his “dedication to New Yorkers is unwavering.” Federal corruption charges that were previously submitted against the mayor were withdrawn in April.

“Although Ingrid Lewis-Martin no longer works for this administration, she has been a friend and colleague for more than 40 years and I have known her as a devoted official; she has explained her innocence and my prayers are with her and her family,” the mayor said in a statement.

As far as Hamilton is concerned, Adams noticed on his non -culpy plea and added: “As someone accused, he is entitled to the suspicion of innocence.”
