Wahroonga has just set its second suburb record in a week, as large land holdings are snapped up by families looking for space.
A large Ada Ave estate, with links to TattsLotto, sold for a new benchmark for Wahroonga on Melbourne Cup Day, beating the $18.5 million record set for another estate a week earlier.
On Tuesday, October 28, a three-story townhouse with tennis court, pool and elevator at 58-60 Carrington Rd sold for $18.5 million after just 13 days on the market.
David Walker, of Ray White Upper North Shore, said many families in the inner city and eastern suburbs were interested but the 4,047 sq m estate was sold to a local family.

The Ada Ave, Wahroonga mansion sits on over 7000 sqm of land.
Pevensey was built in 1939 for the Lowes family menswear store.
āBuyers value space much more than they used to,ā says David.
āThey used to value convenience, but now they want a pool, four or five bedrooms and space for the kids,ā he said.
A week after the Carrington Rd sale, the Pevensey mansion on 7,000 square meters of land in Ada Ave was sold to an eastern suburbs family for $18.55 million, just $50,000 more than the Carrington Rd property.
The estate had a tennis court, swimming pool, stables, six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a separate one-bedroom house in the park-like grounds.
Tim Fraser of Di Jones Upper North Shore could not reveal the sale price, but he confirmed it was a new record for Wahroonga.
The tennis court was a great success with the buyers.
And the swimming pool is the ultimate in luxury.
The buyers were a family from an eastern suburbs.
It was other sources that revealed the exact price, which was discussed in the suburb.
āThe buyers fell in love with the space and the privacy,ā he said.
āThese large land holdings are becoming increasingly rare and there is a feeling that people want to get in and grab them before they are subdivided… I have the highest number of active buyers in the $15 million to $30 million range that I have ever seen,ā he said.
Tim added that Pevensey was built in 1939 for the Lowes family men’s clothing store.
They in turn sold to the Adams family, of Tattersall fame.
George Adams, 1839-1904, was a publican and lottery promoter, best known as the founder of the Tatts Group gambling company.
A branch of the Adams family sold the Ada Ave estate in 2011 for $3,975,000. This week’s sale marks only the third time the property has traded in 86 years.
