Actor Shwetha Menon booked about alleged obscene content in films

The Ernakulam Central Police in Kerala has registered a first information report (FIR) against actor Shwwetha Menon under section 67 A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, for making financial profit through its roles in films with alleged vulgar and obscene content.

The FIR was registered after the judicial magistrate of Erkulam had issued the court to the police on the basis of a complaint filed by Martin Menacery, a resident of Ernakulam. The police also included sections 5 and 3 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act in the FIR.

The FIR claimed that the actor had played roles in films with vulgar and obscene content for financial profit. The alleged content was transferred via social media and adult sites to gain popularity. It claimed that such content was commercially abused to earn.

The police said they would set a probe in the allegations against the actor. The Section 67 A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 is about the publication or transfer of material that contains sexually explicit actions in electronic form.

The actor worked in films, including Salt n ‘pepperPaleri Manikyam: ORU Pathirairairairairairairairairairairairapathkathika KathaRethinirvedamamAnd Kalimannu.

She disputes for the position of President of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) in the elections at the Executive Committee of the body of the actors being held on 15 August.
