Actor Shine Tom Chacko arrested under NDPS Act

The Kochi City Police in Kerala has arrested actor Shine Tom Chacko after more than four hours of interrogation at the police station of Erakulam Town North on Saturday (April 19, 2025). This is after he was acquitted earlier this year in a drug case in 2015.

Mr. Chacko had appeared at the station at 10 a.m. on the basis of a summons of the police for interrogation in connection with an incident in which he reportedly fled a hotel in Kaloor in Kochi City during a raid by the Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (Dance) district late on Wednesday evening.

According to the first reports, it has been booked under the narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS) Act sections 27 (punishment for consumption of a drug or psychotropic substance) and section 29 (punishment for arrest and criminal conspiracy). The first information report (FIR) is registered. The loads are reasonable, it has been learned.

He was mainly called upon to be questioned why he fled to see the police team at the hotel. Allegedly the actor claimed that he did not know that it was a police team, but “they were mistaken for villains to attack him”.

Details collected

The police have reportedly collected their data record and WhatsApp -Chat. A team of senior police officers, including Ernakulam Central Assistant Commissioner C. Jayakumar and Narcotics Cell Assistant Commissioner KA Abdul Salam.

The police have also collected CCTV images from Mr. Chacko who fled the hotel in Kaloor. He reportedly fled his room on the third floor through the window by jumping on the asbestos magazine of the second floor. He reportedly crossed the swimming area, took the stairs to the reception and fled on a two -wheeler.

The DansAF team reportedly reached the hotel after he received a tip about a drug role. They learned about the presence of Mr. Chacko in the hotel through the register and chose to knock on his door.

Although there was initially no response, another person opened the door. However, the police failed to repair narcotic substances from the room despite a thorough search.
