Reviews of “Happy Gilmore 2” have been fleamed, and although some have been more complementary than others, it is difficult to argue with the overall Splash of the sequel to the cult classic, because it dropped less than a week ago.
On Tuesday, Netflix announced that “Happy Gilmore 2” was streamed 46.7 million times in the first three days of the release – the most successful American opening weekend in the history of Netflix.
Another difficult thing to BETW? The surprise star who stolen the show. That’s right, Scottie Scheffler.
You probably Ken Scheffler of his great dominance on the golf course, the man who recently won the Open Championship and who made about so many headlines for his comments about what really fulfills his life. He is no. 1 and has raised his main title count on four, but apparently he also has a number of acting carbonades. And if you looked at “Happy Gilmore 2”, you might have noticed it. He looked comfortable and his dry humor, the ability to fool himself and delivery was a highlight of the film. A quick scan of the internet and social media would tell you the same thing.
But don’t believe on our word. Ask someone who was filming there on the spot.
“Scheffler was great,” said Hunter Mahan, who was Adam Sandler’s Golf-Swing Double and who appeared in this week’s episode of Golf’s insufficient podcast To discuss what it was like to make the film. “People never see that side of Scottie. He is just down, grinds, talks about his faith and his family. But then you see that movie and you are like, guy has a lot of personality. He is funny. He is just a guy at the end of the day.”
Scheffler had a handful of memorable moments, usually aimed at the film that stuck his bizarre arrest at the PGA championship 2024.
He joked, “Oh no, not again”, after he was arrested to hit another player. And at the end of the film, still in a prison chat, he was approached by a guard.
“Hey Scheffler, it’s three days ago, are you sure you don’t want to make that call?”
“Depends on it,” said Scheffler. “What for dinner?”
“Chicken fingers.”
[Pauses]
“I will stay around for another night.”
“He just killed it,” said Mahan. “And they really leaned on him. And luckily he did not hang away from, you know, arrested and all things like that. That is a big question. Many boys would say no to that, and no, no, I don’t want me to look for again. It just made the film so much better. “
