The absence of Federico Chiesa with the Italian team was explained by manager Gennaro Gattuso, while positive injury news about Andy Robertson emerged.
Italy’s door opened for Federico Chiesa
It is now more than a year since Chiesa came out for Italy, with the current Azzurri selection again not having the 27-year-old.
Coach Gattuso has explained why the Liverpool attacker is not involved, despite a revival in shape for the Reds.
“Federico and I talk about every two weeks. He told me he is not yet 100 percent and that must be respected,” the manager said via LA Gazetta Dello Sport.
“He will play for the national team if he reaches the top.”

Gattuso’s comments suggest that Chiesa is still in the team’s plans, but that he will have to play more regularly to recover his place in the attitude of the national team.
Fans in his home country are all too well aware of his quality, which Italy led to the glory of the European Championship 2022. A fired Chiesa would be a big asset for a team currently second in the World Cup qualifying group.

The performance of Arne Slot has already led to fans placing him on a famous head-banner next to his legendary predecessors from Liverpool, but how is he seen in his home country? Joe Bakker gives us the view from the Netherlands:
“The pride of the performance of Slot so far is especially great because he did this with Dutch players who were an integral part of the effort – from the immense Virgil van Dijk at the back of the midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and the penetrating Cody Gakpo on the wing.
“The introduction of Jeremy Frimpong has only increased the number of Dutch football fans that Liverpool now see as their favorite Premier League team.
“The success of the 47-year-old increases the Dutch supporters of English football in general. Regardless of who supports the Eredivisie, the majority of football fans I spoke to in the Netherlands, is very interested in how Liverpool is doing it.”

On this day in 2000, Didi Hamann wrote history by scoring the last goal ever on Wembley before it was rebuilt.

After the match, Liverpool legend Kevin Keegan decided that the time was over when he resigned as manager of England.
