In an application filed at Madiaon police station, Charu Khare, founder of Aasra The Helping Hands Trust (NGO), said around 170 sheep died suddenly in the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal area, days after an event was held here.
At first glance, it is not clear whether these sheep died after consuming waste material or whether an unknown person gave them poison, Ms Khare said. PTI. Demanding a thorough investigation, she said the post-mortem examination of the dead sheep should be conducted to determine the reasons that led to the mysterious death of the sheep.
“If any laxity is found or there is confirmation that poison was administered, strict action should be taken against the suspect. Our organization will provide all possible assistance in the investigation,” Ms Khare said.
She also said the incident is “very serious” and “sensitive,” and the possibility of cruelty to animals and inaction cannot be ruled out.
Madiaon SHO Shivanand Mishra told PTI that samples have been sent for post-mortem examination.
