If the Edmonton Oilers Boston Bruins Goal defender Michael Dipietro want to be in their fold this season, they cannot lean back and hope that the wire exemption will resolve their goal convenation. They have to make a profession to jump the border.

Dipietro is linked this summer as a potentially net -loving target for Edmonton. The 26-year-old has even become a popular name for analysts and insiders who believe that he will be dumped by the Bruins, who have a three-headed goalkeeper situation on his way to the training camp.

As part of the Providence Bruins in 2024-25, he placed a Stellair .927 savings percentage more than 50 matches-the second best figure in the competition. He is upside down as one of the future young goalkeepers of the competition.

Boston goes to training camp with Jeremy Swayman, veteran Joonas Korpisalo and Dipietro. Both Swayman and Korpisalo want to bounce back after disappointing seasons, and it seems that the Bruins are planning to give them the chance to do this. That leaves Dipietro as the strange man. Returning are the most likely next step.

Requesting do not work for the oilers

The idea of taking a promising keeper for free from the exemption wire is attractive for the oilers. The problem for Edmonton is NHL exemption priority. According to Allan Mitchell of athleticsIt’s really not an option.

If Boston tries to send Dipietro to the AHL, he should release exemptions and with his recent AHL numbers, it is very unlikely that he would pass it by for several goalkeeper-teams before the oilers in the claim order in turns.

Michael Dipietro Oilers Exchange Bruins

That reality means that general manager Stan Bowman should work out a trade with Boston if Edmonton really wants dipietro. Every deal would probably happen in the training camp as soon as the Bruins complete their selection decisions.

For the oils, the timing would be crucial. Waiting for too long risks another team that dives into, while exercising too early can mean that too much pay before the goal convening photo of Boston is arranged. Anyway, exemptions will not be the answer – if Dipietro ends up in Edmonton, it will be because the oilers have picked up the phone and made a deal.
