A style insight

Okay, so I’m on the same path as many others here. A style course? Just now.

On this path I try to perform the almost impossible task: to have only perfect garments in my wardrobe that are suitable for everything. How are you? Words like confusing appear first.

I analyze what I have and realize that my wardrobe is especially suitable for more urban life and especially for summer. Lots of thin silk clothes and lots of delicate vintage garments that are not very compatible with toddlers.

So I need to buy some more comfortable and warmer clothes. Clean up and make a big pile of clothes to put in the bag to take to the next girls clothes swap.

But I also realize that I still have a lot that is useful if I think just a little differently. Some thick wool sweaters with the wrong color that I can dye, some thinner ones that I can use layer upon layer.

And something that got me thinking a bit was this photo:

Found this podcast through Emme’s blog here on TWWP. I agree, this part about finding your style is a real tip! Just think how nice and sustainable it is if you don’t want to go back and forth, but can rely on your safe clothing in all situations!

Why? Because this is a problem that I realize I’ve been trying to solve, but the solution is right in front of me. Okay this way: Now that we live in the countryside by the sea, I’ve been thinking all the time that I need to figure out what my outdoor or sports style is? Nothing felt right, feeling dressed up.

The solution is so obvious. I don’t need to find such a style because I live in the countryside. I don’t need an all-weather jacket, because the leather jacket is already the ultimate jacket! I don’t need those sporty good-to-have bras because jeans are just as good, right? Boots, great shoes.

It is consumerism that makes this so. That tells us we need to have something for every type of occasion, when most of the time what we already have works just fine!

That said, I still have some wardrobe adjustments to make. But with a mentality where I don’t start by changing my style, but only to complement it so that I can use what I already have on more occasions.

There will be more posts on this topic. The next one will be a little more precise about what I think I need to supplement to make more use of what I already have, some keywords and my top tip for us material nerds!
