Peterborough United hosts Huddersfield Town in League One on Saturday, with both teams looking for valuable three points.
Peterborough United are in action against Huddersfield Town this weekend and will be looking to regain some consistency. PUFC have alternated wins and losses in their last six League One games, losing to Stevenage on Tuesday night.
The Lamex Stadium is a tough place and Posh traveled with a number of key players in defence. A young starting XI with the debuting 18-year-old Lucca Mendonca acquitted themselves well that evening.
Luke Williams’ striking turnaround has taken Posh to 10th place. They are eight points above the relegation zone they were once stuck in and are seven points clear of the play-offs.
Huddersfield Town are also the team occupying the last of the top six places. They have found strong form after their own managerial change, hiring Liam Manning as Lee Grant’s replacement.
Manning has made the perfect start to life with the Terriers. Two 1-0 wins over Bradford City and Luton Town ensured six points and no goals conceded against two League One promotion candidates.
The new HTAFC boss’s track record in League One makes for good reading as Town look to reignite their push for a return to the Championship.
Liam Manning’s League One record
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
James Ray
“There is always a bit of tension in matches between Peterborough United and Huddersfield Town. They have met in several high-stakes matches over the years and there is a lot to be won here.
“The Terriers undoubtedly have the stronger squad, even without Posh’s injuries in mind. They have the wind in their sails from a perfect start under Liam Manning and will be confident of winning at London Road this weekend.
“PUFC, however, will not be easily brushed aside. Even with defensive injury problems, they have fought hard even if their performances have been affected, and that could ensure the visitors can record a third win in three under their new boss.
“The challenge for Huddersfield will be to get their form on the road. I’m leaning towards an away win but I think Posh will have the fight in them to get a point.”
Prediction: Peterborough United 1-1 Huddersfield Town
Harry Mail
“Peterborough United have risen in the rankings since the appointment of Luke Williams. However, inconsistency has started to creep into PUFC recently.
“They have lost three of their last five. However, they will still fancy themselves against anyone under Williams.
“Huddersfield Town have started well under Liam Manning. He seems a sensible appointment for HTAFC after they sacked Lee Grant.
“The Terriers have won two on the spin under the ex-Bristol City and Norwich City man and will be feeling confident. I think they might sneak in another one here at London Road, but it will be close.”
Prediction: Peterborough United 1-2 Huddersfield Town
