The news stems from the latest teaser from Suzuki prior to the favorable Suzuki 8-hour racing weekend. The new sports bike can be an updated GSX-R1000
So what could it be? Well, a new GSX-R1000 seems to be the most likely resurrection. That’s because Suzuki did something similar not so long ago with the Hayabusa. When stopping the second generation, the Bikemaker quietly threw in some sympathetic updates and introduced a small motorcycle hashash to introduce the third generation of Hayabusa. It made the right kind of noise and keeps selling well worldwide.
So with the Gixxer 1000 that was stopped last year, the company could do something similar with its liter-class GSX-R. This platform has not undergone an update since 2017, in case you are curious. That has also damaged the racing prospects of Suzuki, because it cannot participate in WSBK. There is a slender chance that we can also get a new GSX-R600 or GSX-R750. With the GSX-8R already in the line-up, two middleweight sports bikes seem to be unlikely. After all, this is still a niche segment.
