A Major Attitude goes from the last to the first

FORT WASHINGTON, MD. — A cunning harness racing wheel from Justin Walters powered A Major Attitude (Captain treacherous) from last to first in Monday’s (Nov. 10) $12,000 Open Pace at Rosecroft Raceway.

After coming away last in the six-horse field as Rebellious (driven by William Carter) and Leonard’s Legacy (Tim Deaton) battled through a :26.2 first quarter duel, Walters put A Major Attitude in a live third over drag heading into the :55.3 half. Rebellious braced for a first-over bid from RNB Band (Russell Foster) and repelled it after three-quarters in 1:22.3, and as the outer layer came to a halt, Walters swooped in with A Major Attitude ahead of the eighth pole, leaving the 5-year-old Captaintreacherous-Fine China gelding for his winning move on the open stretch to beat Leonard’s Legacy by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:52. Rebellious was a defeated third.

AN IMPORTANT REPETITION OF POSTURE

Howard Birney owns and trains 13-time winner A Major Attitude, who paid $5.20 to win as an 8-5 co-favourite.

Lucas Myers led all drivers with three wins on the 13-race card.

When the live harness racing returns to Rosecroft on Thursday (Nov. 13), there will be a carryover of $350.97 in the Jackpot Hi-5, offered in race 10. The first post for the 13-race card is 7:15 PM (EST).
