If you want to see one of these capitals in action, look no further. The schedule for viewing Wilson, Thompson and Fehervary is as follows, with all times listed in Eastern Standard Time.
Fehervary: Team Slovakia
Defender Fehervary was one of the provisional six players added to the Slovak team. He has been a reliable defenseman for the Capitals for five seasons and this season, despite a brief spell without injury, he has 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 58 games. He averages 7:00 p.m. on ice per game and has blocked a whopping 119 shots this season. He is expected to be a heavy hitter at the back for Slovakia.
He and Slovakia will compete in Group B, where they will face Finland, Sweden and Italy. Fehervary will feature in the first match of the tournament when his team takes on Finland on February 11 (10.40am). The Slovaks will then play against Italy on February 13 (6:10 am) and against Sweden on February 14 (6:10 am).
Wilson and Thompson: Team Canada
As perhaps two of the Capitals’ brightest stars, it’s no surprise that veteran forward Wilson and starting goaltender Thompson will join Team Canada in their quest for gold. Wilson has been one of the Capitals’ best offensive players this season, holding the title of leading scorer and good for 49 points (23 goals, 26 assists) in 50 games. Even though an injury halted his play for a while, he is still performing at a rate of almost one point per game.
Thompson could be the reason the Capitals aren’t out of the playoffs yet. He has helped them secure victories match after match by standing on his head and making numerous impressive saves. He has one 19-16-4 record with a .912 save percentage and is expected to make a major contribution to the national team. He could be their starting goalie over Darcy Kuemper or Jordan Binnington.
Team Canada is a favorite heading into the Olympics and will play in Group A alongside France, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. Their first match against the Czech Republic will take place on February 12 (8:40 am). They continue group play on February 13, against Switzerland (3:10 PM) and February 15 (10:40 AM), versus France.
Playoffs and medal games
The Olympic play-offs take place on February 17 and four matches will be played throughout the day. According to NBC Sportsthe three group winners, plus the best second-place team, will advance to the quarter-finals. The remaining eight teams will play in a qualifying round to determine the final four quarterfinalists.
Those who progress to the quarter-finals will play the next day, where four matches will also take place. The semi-finals consist of just two matches taking place on February 20.
