‘A big miss’: Latest news on key Middlesbrough man’s injuries as absence continues News: The72 – Football League News

Middlesbrough centre-back Dael Fry has no definitive return date as they manage an ongoing calf problem. Adi Viveash said.

Middlesbrough were defeated by Coventry City on Tuesday evening, losing 4-2 to the Championship leaders. It was a tough night at the office for Boro, who were once again managed by Adi Viveash.

For their next match against Derby County, new boss Kim Hellberg will be in the dugout for the first time. The Swede will be keen to make a strong start as the Teesside team look to continue their push for promotion.

Unfortunately, Hellberg faces a challenging situation when he gets to work. A key player currently managing a problem is centre-back Dael Fry.

The Middlesbrough Academy graduate was absent for the second game in a row on Tuesday due to a calf problem.

The uncertainty about Dael Fry’s injuries at Middlesbrough continues

After the match, Viveash gave an update on the injury situation. He stated that there is hope for both Aidan Morris and… David Sagittarius could feature in Hellberg’s first game against Derby County.

However, there is more uncertainty about Fry. His calf issue is one with no specific return date or timetable, and it will be taken on a day-by-day basis to see exactly when he will be fit to appear again

‘Dael is an ongoing problem, as we all know’ Viveash narrated Teesside Live.

“I think with Dael it’s about the length of time he’ll be out. And he’s obviously a big miss. He’s a huge miss for us. So the powers that be will look at that.”

“The physios are in contact with the doctors, and it is actually an update with Dael every day. If we get the green light, we will of course hopefully get him back, but I cannot give a definitive answer about when that will be.”

Fry missed a three-match series in August and was also absent in the draw against Leicester City. His return against Birmingham City later that week lasted just 26 minutes, and he has not played since.

Middlesbrough’s centre-back in the absence of Dael Fry

The back four against Oxford United were fairly simple. Luke Ayling came in at centre-back alongside Alfie Jones with Matt Targett at left-back and Callum Brittain on the right.

However, a problem for Targett saw a shift to a back three against Coventry City. Ayling and Jones started again, but it was midfielder Alan Browne who joined them.

Targett would be introduced as a left-sided centre-back in the second half as Browne moved into midfield to replace the injured Morris.

It looks like these players will be the same players Hellberg has to choose from in his first game. George McCormick has provided cover on the bench, but in this shortage the senior players are preferred.

It will be intriguing to see if Hellberg takes the same path or if he puts a little more faith in the youth. It would be a gamble for his first Boro match, but he will certainly be weighing all his options carefully in the days leading up to the draw at Derby County.
