During his latest Bleacher Report Live Stream, NBA Insider Jake Fischer Said that the Philadelphia 76ers might be considering a salary-dump deal to give them more cap space to re-sign limited free agent Quentin Grimes.
“There has been Buzz all summer about the Sixers who want to move one of, if not both, Andre Drummond and/or Kelly Oubre,” Fischer said.
“If they can find a deal for one of those two boys when we get closer to the camp, it would open a little more wobble space for Philadelphia to be able to pay Grimes a little more [money]. “
76ers tried to exchange Andre Drummond in July
Per PlaceBoth Drummond ($ 5 million) and Oubre ($ 8.38 million) have exercised their player options for the 2025-26 season and will be the next free free agents.
The Sixers were reportedly Drummond Shopping at the beginning of July after the former first rounder collected his option, but a trading deal was never reached, according to the athletics Tony Jones.
With Joel Embiid for most of the 2024-25 season, Drummond played almost 19 minutes per game over 40 games (23 Starts). He on average 7.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while he shot 50%.
Drummond drew a two -year deal, $ 10 million with the 76 people last summer. He is in his second Stint in Philadelphia after also having spent the first half of the 2021-22 season with the team before he goes to the Brooklyn Nets as part of the James Harden Trade.
Sixers hope to re -sign Grimes after losing Guerschon Yabusele
In the meantime, Oubre appeared in 60 games (57 Starts) with the Sixers last season, on average 15.1 points and 6.1 rebounds to deal with career heights of 1.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 34.6 minutes per match.
Despite the shooting of only 29.3% from outside the arc, Oubre remained one of the most reliable scoring wings in Philadelphia. He registered a season -high 30 points in Brooklyn on 12 February.
However, currently a trade is needed for the Sixers, because the team cannot afford to lose Grimes. Earlier this season, the 76ers extended a qualification of $ 8.7 million to the experienced guard.
Last season, Grimes had on average a career-high 22.4 points and 47.7% shot out of the field and joined Tyrese Maxey, Allen Iverson and Hal Greer as the only Sixers guards to an average of 28.5 points in a 10-game stretch.
Philadelphia has to sign Grimes again after the team has failed to make the Breakout star forward, Guerschon Yabusele, who drew a two-year-old $ 12 million deal with the New York Knicks in free agency.
About 77%, or about $ 146 million, of the Sixers payroll is tied in Embiid, Maxey and Paul George, according to Bobby Marks of ESPN.
