It would be foolish to do too much stock on one A few preseason matchesBut the Philadelphia 76ers did not exactly have an impressive start of their first pair of trips as a run-up to the threatening season 2025-26.
The 76ers both of their preseason matches in Abu Dhabi against the Knicks, their most important division rivals. In those competitions, the attack turned out to be a huge problem for the team, and it did not like Paul George, Joel Embiid, Quentin Grimes and Jared McCain certainly did not keep their business in the offensive end. The result? Two unobtrusive versions as a collective.
During their first hurray versus New York, Philly was only able to collect 84 points and drain only three of their 35 attempts from outside the three -point line. In their second they managed to pick up only 86 markers. While they shot the ball better from Rainbow Country, they were focused on almost every aspect of the attack.
The common denominator in those games? Lack of playing. During those two games, the 76ers only registered 17 assists per outing while coughing up the ball at an average speed of 16.5 per match. Their enormous lack of play talent was pretty clear, and without much of an internal solution, that could continue to exist very well.

Philadelphia was of the second in the competition in Dimes per match last season, and although assists are not the only indicator for team basketball and playing power, their low number necessarily means that they have an urgent need in that department.
However, the Front Office does not seem to have much left, or not at all. The team did not tackle this problem, hoping to rely on their score-first guards to improve as a table color in infringement instead of installing proven floor generals who could give them a lift in that area.
Because Tyrese Maxey has to do the heavy work at the scoring end and Jared McCain will be held for the next four to six weeks, the coaching staff must become more creative in setting up the team to generate more open appearance. At the moment the attack looks old, and although the rotations are currently understandably irregular, there is currently no structure or electricity to their scoring attack.
Hopefully the coaching staff will do something to reduce this growing nuisance, otherwise the risk that the 76 people run the risk of using a predictable attack that is more dependent on pure talent than actually teamwork.
