Over the years, the Philadelphia 76 people had not had a stable power to combine next to Joel Embiid. From Dario Saric to Al Horford to PJ Tucker, the team has seen a running door of Front Court Partners coming and going for the superstar, making the critical place a question that returns every year. This season is no exception.
Last season the 76ers finally seemed to have found an ideal starting power in Guerschon Yabusele, who became their most consistent player throughout the year. Finally, the Frenchman injected energy, versatility and much-needed basketball-IQ to the team without sacrificing a land on the defensive end of the floor thanks to his hustle and bustle for intangible matters.
But as everyone knows, Yabusele is now gone. The 76ers Front Office made the random decision not To strive for him in the free desk, albeit constructively, that they made him so lowball that the tough attacker chose to go somewhere else. To make matters worse, he finished at the Knicks – who may not be the most important rival of Philly in the coming campaign.
However, the 76 people are not without options to replace the Frenchman. In fact, an unprecedented new face must be seriously considered by the coaching staff to man the starting position.
76ers should seriously consider starting Trendon Watford next season
Trendon Watford is one of the new players in the 76ers selection for next season. After the awkward output of Yabusele, the Front Office quickly scooped it cheaply on the open market, with this signing easily one of the best Koopjesbin deals in the competition.
A natural tweener, Watford, is someone who can handle the brutal force needed to lock larger players, while he has the required mobility to fit in more dynamic, switch -heavy schemes. He can play both forward positions and even slide into splashing in the nominal center spot as part of smaller Line -Up configurations.
That said, his fit on attack is even more enthusiastic. Despite the average of only 20.8 minutes for the nets last season, Watford eventually registered 10.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per match, giving his all-round skills set that should predict well for Philly’s star-heavy makeup.
Watford is also a respectable threat to the perimeter as a career 35 percent three -point shooter. And although last season was an aberration when it comes to his scoring efficiency, he is a 52 percent career from the field. Making his secondary game cannot go unnoticed either.
All in all, those are the characteristics that the 76ers should want from their starting power forward. He is A bit beatenBut he should be ready to go fast. Now we will wait if Nick Nurse and the coaching staff are daring enough to make this sensible change.
