A day later, seven Dodgers players officially became free agents as the 2025 season ended in a thrilling overtime Game 7.
Fan favorite Kiké Hernandez is one of seven LA players to enter the free agent market. Michael Conforto, Andrew Heaney, Clayton Kershaw, Michael Kopech, Miguel Rojas and Kirby Yates are also Dodgers free agents.
Kershaw announced he would retire after the 2025 season. The future Hall of Famer had quite the farewell tour as he retired from baseball as a three-time World Series champion.
Rojas has expressed his desire to remain with the team, and he cemented his name in franchise history with perhaps the most important home run in Dodgers history. In the top of the ninth inning of Game 7, Rojas hit a game-tying home run, sending the game to extra innings.
Before the Fall Classic, Rojas was asked if he would prefer to stay in LA for the 2026 season.
“100 percent, yes. This is my number one priority to sign here with the Dodgers for another year,” Rojas told Doug McKain of Dodges Nation. “I want to do that, and then we’ll reevaluate where my career goes.”
Conforto signed a one-year, $17 million contract with the Dodgers last winter, and given his performance in the regular season, it’s unlikely the outfielder will return in 2026.
The Dodgers signed Heaney on September 1, making the veteran postseason eligible. The southpaw made one appearance for LA in the final series of the regular season, allowing three earned runs in two innings against the Seattle Mariners.
As for Kopech and Yates, both relievers were poised to play a pivotal role for the Dodgers in 2025, but injuries ultimately sidelined them both. It remains unclear which free agents the Dodgers will choose to bring back.
