Time is a luxury. With a busy life, it can be difficult to find enough time to practice your golf game, especially when so many skills are required to build a well-rounded game.
The good news? Small amounts of focused exercise can make a big difference. Here are five efficient exercise ideas that you can realistically fit into a busy schedule.
1. Work on the setup using a mirror
You can make meaningful improvements to your setup outside of the course, and I can honestly say that most of my classes start with setup adjustments. Often, as the setup improves, the swing naturally follows.
Use a contoured practice grip to fine-tune your hand position and work on your posture and alignment in front of a mirror. This is one of the fastest ways to see improvement without ever hitting a ball.
2. Learn many strokes with one wedge
Practicing short games often leads to faster score improvement than any other area. If time is limited, choose only one distance per session: 20, 30, 40 or 50 meters.
From that distance, practice both a higher, softer shot and a lower, running shot. Being able to do multiple runs from the same distance gives you options on the course and avoids the habit of relying on just one shot.
3. Focus on one goal
Your ‘distance wedges’ are essential for making birdies on par fives and saving pars when you miss greens.
Spend 10-15 minutes hitting a specific target with a partial wedge. This helps you dial in swing size and rhythm—skills that translate directly to the course when you encounter that exact distance. A defined goal also keeps your focus on purpose and intention, and not just the mechanics.
4. Develop a go-to tee shot
Which club do you hit most often on your course? It could be your driver, but it could also be a fairway wood, hybrid or long iron.
Spending extra time with this go-to club will build confidence through repetition and prepare you for the shots you’ll encounter most often during a round.
5. Address purpose and alignment
Controlling the ball well simplifies everything that follows. Better drives lead to shorter approach shots, closer to the hole and more makeable putts.
Use a setup station when practicing with your driver. Alignment bars can help you control aim, ball position and shoulder tilt at address. Focus on quality over quantity by challenging yourself to achieve a certain number of solid drives in a row.

Fixing the stubby and leafy chips and pitches around the greens (which means you’ll get up and down more and immediately lower your scores). Eliminate your 3-Putts and make more putts within 10 feet so you save more pars and make fewer bogeys.
