Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has emerged to support head coach Gautam Gambhir and praised him to prioritize “team culture” above “Star Culture” in the Indian cricket.
Pathan, speaking in an interview with Lallantop, praised Gambhir for his intention to place the team above individual reputations, a movement that he thought was long too late.
“Mere liye team culture bahut important hai. Gautam gambhir jo hai na Waan pe, jab branch wo apni coaching journey khatam karenge, wo tam culture le ke aayenge pathhan said.
The former Pacer pointed out that Indian Cricket has often been guilty of offering long -term opportunities to support players only because of their status.
“Humare Yahan Ek Banda Fail Hue Ja Raha Hai 3, 4, 5 Saal Se Magar USKO Coincident The Do Kyunki Wo Bahut Bada player Hai. Kahi Toh Aapko Full Stop Lagana Padega,” said Hey, Shenting Talent said an end to an end.
Pathan also praised the role of chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar, and emphasized how the partnership between Gambhir and Agarkar brings the much needed balance to Indian Cricket.
“Dusra Jinka name Nahi Aata, Wed Banda Abada Jabardast Hai Indian Cricket Ke Liye, chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar,” Pathan noted.
According to him, the coordination between the head coach and selectors is the key to the success of India.
“Aaj ek koi bhi concludes hota hai na, wo sirf coach nahi le sakta, ek koi bhi decision selector nahi le sakta. Lagta hai ye dono sahi towards me yes rahe hai … team culture ko le kar,” PaShan added.
With Gambhir at the helm and agarkar that leads the selection committee, Pathan believes that Indian Cricket is slowly on their way to a merit -based system where performance has priority on name value.
