The Nissan Sentra of the ninth generation has made his debut in the United States, where it will be for sale later this year. Available in S, SV, SR and SL figures, the sedan that we knew here, because the Sylphy has a new design and is initially offered with a single powertrain option.
The latter has an MR20DD 2.0 letters of course leveled inline-four petrol engine that serves 151 PS (149 hp or 111 kW) and 198 Nm Koppel. This drives the front wheels through an Xtronic CVT, with drivers of the SV, SR and SL figures that are able to use a new sports mode for sharper gas response and switch patterns.
Nissan says that compared to the eighth generation model, the latest Sentra’s body has been strengthened to offer 6% greater stiffness than before. The sedan gets Macpherson stuts at the front and a rear multi-link suspension setup, with the dampers who get a new falling to better reduce the impact of hardness due to bumps.
Engineers have also used an enlarged dynamic damper on the wheel to reduce road vibrations, while the size of body openings in the vehicle has been reduced to a lower infringement of the sound.
The MR20DD is covered by a sculpted hood that leads to a developed V-Motion schedule that has been styled in a similar way as recent Nissan models such as the Note and Qashqai. Lines that extend from the grid lead in the running lights of the car, which are just below Slim LED, projected headlights. Nissan says that the Sentra will play a light show when it is unlocked, with the direction indicators, high and low beans and DRLs.
Along the sides, the new, streamlined side shows the fold of the previous model near the Rocker panel, but retains the subtle shoulder line nod near the back door handles. The pinched part near the C-Pilars of the past has now disappeared, replaced by chrome and more plastic finish.
In the meantime, the back is getting slender rear lights with connected light bars that lead to the boat lid, and depending on the chosen degree, a diffuser-like element and lip spoiler are added. Graadsisable are also wheels that vary from 16 to 18 inches, as well as the two -tone look with a super black roof and matching pillars.
Aspen White, Bluestone Pearl, Atlantic Gray and Energetic Ember are available colors with the black upper, while the monotone options include imperial bronze, gun metallic, Atlantic Gray Metallic, Super Black, Scarlet Ember, White and Fresh Powder.
Despite the striking design, the Sentra uses the same bones as its predecessor, as it is supported by the Renault-Nissan Alliance Common Module Family CD (CMF-CD) platform, albeit updated. As such, the wheelbase is unchanged at 2,712 mm, while the new top hat is 4.656 mm long (+15 mm), 1.825 mm wide (+10 mm) and 1,448 mm long (-2 mm).
It is not only the outside of the new Sentra that gets a considerable redesign, because the interior is also made to look much more modern than its predecessor. The highlight here are the double 12.3-inch displays, including a digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen, the latter would be twice clearer for simpler reading in varied lighting conditions.
As a reference to the outgoing Sentra, the new three rectangular elements in the center pile (these were circular in the previous model), although it is not an air opening in the middle, but a panel with control elements for playing media and the round view monitor.
Most buyers will be happy to know that the climate controls are not integrated in the upper touchscreen, with a special touch -sensitive panel placed just below the central air openings. There are also good tactile switches on the steering wheel with two spoke, which can be used to operate display functions, and the center console gets buttons and switches for drive modes.
Available equipment for the Sentra comprises 10 airbags (as standard over all qualities), a Bose Sound System with eight speakers, a driven sun roof, 64-Kleurs environment light, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a wireless loading cushion and soft touch on Tailorfit Synthetic Leather Stoffer.
Standard functions of the driver are automatic emergency brakes, forward collision warning, lane prevention, high beam assist, traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control. New in the Sentra is a blind spot intervention that can actively help prevent a collision if the driver of lane tries to change when a car is in the blind spot of the vehicle.
