Nissan has unveiled its exhibits for the Japan Mobility Show starting on October 29, and it looks to be a rather low-key affair, with no concepts and just two new models. One of them is quite important, however, and that is the facelifted Ariya, which brings design cues from the new Leaf.

The larger model ditches the grille-like black mask for a sleeker look, but retains its quad LED projector headlights, now joined by a simple black bar. As is becoming common with Nissan’s newer EVs, the fang-like daytime running lights extend down from the main lamps to form a redesigned V-motion front fascia. The rear and interior haven’t been revealed yet, but expect changes to be made there as well.

Built-in Google services such as the Google Assistant, Google Maps and the Play Store for apps will also be added, along with a new vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature and revised suspension tuning that is better suited to Japanese roads. There is no mention of mechanical changes, but the automaker would do well to increase the range from the current maximum of 530 km, as the Leaf can now travel up to 604 km on a single charge.

The show will also host the debut of the new Elgrand, which is entering its fourth generation. Nissan’s rival to the Toyota Alphard, teased in April, should feature a much more futuristic design that borrows elements from the Hyper Tourer concept, including pixel daytime running lights and taillights and a large rear spoiler.

Underneath the skin, the Elgrand will be powered exclusively by Nissan’s third-generation e-Power hybrid system, first seen in the latest Qashqai in Europe. This uses a more compact and powerful five-in-one electric motor producing 205 horsepower, as well as a new, cleaner, non-VC Turbo 1.5-liter engine for power generation.

The Ariya and Elgrand will be joined by a new Limited variant of the Skyline 400R, of which only 400 units will be sold, as well as existing models from the Japanese domestic market and from around the world such as the Micra, N7 and Patrol. One car that caught our attention is the Nissan Z, painted in Midnight Purple, reviving the color-changing paint of the R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R.
