The completely new Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ technology has made a debut this year at the IAA Mobility Show (also known as the Munich-Autosalon) as the direct rival of the (also) completely new BMW IX3.
Built on a medium-sized version of the Mercedes-Benz Electric Architecture (MB.EA medium) with an 800-volt electrical architecture, the GLC with EQ technology is first offered in a single GLC400 4MATIC variant when it is for sale in the first half of 2026.
On paper, the GLC EQ offers significant improvements compared to the EQC, with the last member of the EQ family of the company when it was introduced in September 2018. The newer electric vehicle (EV) offers no less than 713 km of reach on a single load after the WLTP standard thanks to a lithium ion battery with a usable energy content of 94 kWh.
This can be charged with a maximum AC speed of 11 kW, with 22 kW an option. DC charging is also covered quickly at 330 kW, which means that the battery can get a load of 10-80% in just 22 minutes from 300 km can be charged within 10 minutes. A DC converter is installed in selected markets to make charging at 400-Volt stations possible. The company claims energy consumption as low as 14.9 kWh per 100 km and adds that the bidirectional charge is available in markets that support it.
Power of the battery is used for a few permanently excited synchronous electric motors-one on each axis that ensure four-wheel drive and a total system output of 489 PS (483 hp or 360 kW). The rear electric drive unit receives a two-gear transmission, where the front has a single reduction acceleration.
In terms of performance, you look at an SUV that is from 0-100 km/h within 4.3 seconds on the way to a top speed of 210 km/h. You can also drag a maximum of 2.4 tons. In almost every metric, the GLC EQ beats the EQC, and this also extends to the dimensions.
Other elements of the powertrain include the optional, S-class derived airmatic air suspension that the dampers can adjust based on auto-to-x information, while optional rear-axis control makes the rear wheels possible up to 4.5 degrees at speeds below 60 km/h. This reduces to 2.5 degrees above 60 km/h. A four-link axle is used at the front and the back is hung a multi-link rear axle at a middle pivot point.
For recovery there is a new brackish system with one box that previously combines separate components of the brake booster, main cylinder and ESP control in a single compact module. Mercedes-Benz says that almost all braking is carried out via regenerative braking up to 300 kW, with four levels available for driver-‘d- ‘is the most aggressive and offers a feeling of one pedal.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the GLC EQ measures 4.845 mm long (+84 mm), 1.913 mm wide (+29 mm), 1.644 mm long (+20 mm) and its wheelbase tensions of 2.972 mm (+99 mm). Within the larger body, a frunk with a capacity of 128 liters and a boot that offers 570 liters is expandable to 1,740 liters.
The GLC EQ has the “Re-defined face of the Mercedes-Benz brand”, where the highlight is the front grid with a thick chrome surround, smoke glass-look mesh structure and integrated contour lighting. An illuminated option is available as an option that adds an illuminated central star, as well as 942 rear dots that offer a pixel -like look and can be animated.
Full main lamps are standard-digital light is available if an option and has a three-pointed star and slim top light bar as their daily light signature. The two -part rear lights also get stars in their clusters, but they are set to a black panel with light beams that point to a central logo.
Mercedes -Benz has already said that his future EVs will look more like his internal combustion engine (ICE) models, and this applies to the exterior design that usually imitates the standard GLC. The bumpers and upward belt line are reminiscent of the non-EV model, although the pop-out door, more aerodynamic roof line, apart the EV in addition to the schedule and lighting units.
What does not look like the GLC is the interior, because the GLC EQ receives the fourth generation of the MBUX from the company. The star here is the 39.1-inch MBUX hyperscreen, an optional extra and the largest display unit of the company so far, which spans and ends almost the entire width of the dashboard in the openings of the corner air.
This combines three separate displays under a large glass surface, including a 10.3-inch instrument cluster and two 14-inch touch screens (central infotainment and front passenger). The MBUX Hyperscreen with high resolution has more than 1,000 individual LEDs to make local array dimming possible, a technology that Mercedes-Benz has submitted.
On models equipped with the lesser MBUX Superscreen, the display for passengers is replaced by a “digital decorative element” that can show a personal photo or one of the 12 pre -defined images – it is essentially a digital photo frame.
High-performance chips and real-time graphics from the Unity Game Engine Control the screens and Power MB.OS, with the improved MBUX Zero layer with important information and context-sensitive suggestions and the most recently used apps. There is also integrated artificial intelligence (AI) from both Microsoft and Google, together with Chatgpt4O and a smarter MBUX virtual assistant.
You also get two new avatars as alternatives for the standard star avatar, including a “human-like Avatar coming from a condensing cloud of stars” and Littlebenz, which is said to “allow an even stronger connection to a personal level” with its expressive face.
Luxury touches for the GLC EQ include the optional Sky -Control Panoramic roof that can switch between transparent and opaque, with the surface divided into nine switchable zones. There is also environmental lighting that creates a stunning WOW effect (the words of the company), also integrated into the glass surface for the 162 stars.
There is also an optional Burmester 4D -Surround Sound system with Dolby Atmos support, together with a whole series of sound experiences that match the interior lighting. Many of the interior systems, including the multifunctional seats, are linked to energy comfort, the wellness function of Mercedes-Benz that has programs to relax in passengers after a long drive.
The larger body offers more room for passengers, where Mercedes-Benz points to 13 mm more legroom and 46 mm more headroom at the front, while it is 47 mm and 17 mm respectively for the rear passengers. Another thing to be recommended by the company is the return of rocker and roller controls on the wheel for the limiter and distronic systems, although capacitive touch panels are still something.
With regard to safety and driver safety systems, the hardware suite of the GLC EQ contains 10 cameras, five radar sensors, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a water -cooled computer to make a variety of functions possible. Distance Assist Distronic and a new systems are standard, with upgrades that come in the form of bundles such as MB.Drive Assist, MB.Drive Assist Plus, MB.Drive Assist Pro, MB.Drive Parking Assist and MB.Drive Parking Assist 360.
The MB.Drive Assist packages gradually increase the level of autonomy of SAE level 2 directly to point-to-point self, although the latter will only be launched in markets that allow this. In the meantime, the MB.Drive Parking Assist Bundles improve the convenience of parking, including the possibility to automatically leave a parking space, even after the car parking manually.
The production of the GLC EQ will take place in the Bremen of the company in Germany, whereby the company notices that vehicles of this class will also be produced in Kecskemet, Hungary, as well as at Beijing Benz Automotive in China.
