Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has unveiled the 2026 KTM 990 RC R Track, meat for closed-circuit use. The 990 RC R Track joins the KTM 990 RC R that was released for public sale in October last year.

What sets the RC R Track apart from its on-road sibling is the omission of any form of road equipment. This means that lights, mirrors, sidestands and other street sensibilities are gone and replaced with a fully race-ready configuration.

The fairing is made from injected plastic for custom decals and graphics, and is easy to replace and repair, while the windshield is larger for a full racing entry. A wet weather rear light and paddock stand come as standard, while the controls and dashboard have been simplified for the track.

Michelin Power Slick tires come standard in sizes 120/70-R17 and 190/55-R17 for the track. A fully adjustable, state-of-the-art WP APEX suspension is fitted, with settings derived from test laps on some of the most prominent motorsport circuits in Europe.

The RC R track is also two kilograms lighter than the RC R’s 195 kg (wet weight). There are three customizable track riding modes, allowing easy configuration of throttle response, traction control, skid adjustment, anti-wheelie mode, launch control and engine braking.

Also included in the spec sheet are a pit limiter, KTM quickshifter+ and all riding information, including a lap timer, is displayed on a 4.2-inch color TFT-LCD screen. ABS is omitted for the RC R Track, with braking using 320mm diameter Brembo HyPure discs and dual four-piston calipers, along with a 240mm rear disc.

The RC R Track is based on the KTM RC16 MotoGP racing bike due to its aerodynamic profile. Wings and edges are shaped for best downforce and cornering performance during entry, grip and stability during acceleration.

Power comes from KTM’s 947cc parallel-twin, DOHC LC8c engine, producing 135 hp and 105 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, mated to a racing gearbox with longer first and shorter sixth gears and stainless steel Akrapovic Evolution exhaust system. For comparison: the road-going RC R gets 127 hp and 103 Nm of torque.

The seat height of the RC R Track is set at 857 mm with a fuel capacity of 15.7 liters in the tank. The RC R Track is intended for participation in the KTM 990 RC R Cup, a cost-controlled, professionally organized six-round European racing series for amateur riders.
