The Mustang GTD supercar and Mustang GT3 race car represent the pinnacle of Ford’s Pony Car range. Now the Dark Horse SC Coupe is right behind them. Developed in collaboration with Ford Racing, it features a host of features derived from its more extreme stablemates. These include a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires on the Track Pack model, and 3D-printed titanium accents. Several aerodynamic changes are visible, including an aluminum hood with a large vent, a revised vent on the dashboard and lower bodywork, and a ducktail-shaped tailgate that improves efficiency by 10 percent – enough that the GTD team has also adopted it. Other notable changes include next-generation MagneRide dampers with revised spring rates and knuckles, carbon fiber wheels, a Variable Traction Control system with five different levels, a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, and Alcantara and carbon fiber accents on the Track Pack, which also gets Recaro leather and Dinamica sport seats and a storage shelf in place of the rear seat. The Mustang Dark Horse SC will be available this summer.
