After twenty years, the Ducati Hypermotard V2 has been extensively updated. The Hypermotard V2, shown at the EICMA motorcycle show in Italy, sees its biggest change in the V-twin engine, with a new 890 cc engine that is six kilograms lighter than the previous Testastretta 11° 937 cc mill.
This is the same twin used in the Panigale V2, Streetfighter V2, Multistrada V2 and Monster, producing 120 hp at 10,750 rpm with 94 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm. What is striking is the disappearance of the Desmodromic valve control system in Ducati’s liquid-cooled engines.
This now allows valve clearance intervals to be set at 45,000 km, while oil changes are now scheduled every 15,000 km or every two years, whichever comes first. In terms of styling, the Hypermotard V2 is inspired by the original Hypermotard 1100.

This can be seen in the headlights and taillights, as well as in the dual exhausts under the tail unit. A monocoque structure encompasses the engine and front end, while the rear bodywork is mounted on a trellis subframe.
This places the rider in an aggressive forward riding position, indicating that the Hypermotard V2 is a true motard motorcycle. For the electronics suite, the Hypermotard V2 comes with four riding modes: Race, Sport, Road and the limited 95 hp Rain mode.
The driving modes can be adjusted in various ways, while the ABS can be set to one of four intervention levels. Standard equipment includes a Ducati Quickshifter 2.0, while the six-axis IMU offers Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC). Ducati Power Launch (DPL) is only available in the Hypermotard V2 SP model variant.

The Hypermotard V2 Sp is further differentiated from the standard Hypermotard V2 model with the addition of Ohlins suspension, NIX 30 fully adjustable front forks and STX 36 fully adjustable rear monoshock, and lighter 17-inch forged wheels. The standard Hypermotard V2 gets a Kayaba front suspension and a rear monoshock that are adjustable for preload and rebound, while a Sachs steering damper is standard for both versions.
With all the changes, the 2026 Hypermotard V2 weighs 180 kg for the standard version and 177 kg for the SP version, 13 kg lighter than the translucent Hypermotard 950. There are 12.5 liters of fuel in the tank while the seat height is set at 880 mm.
