An emotional one Rodrogue opened up her sentiments during the post-match ceremony of an enthralling 2025 Women’s World Cup match against Australia at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. India chased a record target of 339 runs after a 127-run masterclass from Jemimah in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, October 30.

She started by praising Jesus, followed by appreciation for her parents and coach. Jemimah acknowledged that batting at No. 3 was unknown to her until the last minute. She also highlighted how she took the team-first approach as a whole while batting down the middle rather than focusing on her own individual score.

“First of all, I want to thank Jesus because I couldn’t do this on my own. I know He got me through the day. I want to thank my mom, my dad, my coach and everyone who believed in me over the last four months. It’s been really hard the last four months, but it just feels like a dream and it hasn’t sunk in yet. I wasn’t actually at three yet. I was still at five when I was taking a shower. And when the discussion happened, I just told them, let me So just before I started, I knew I was at three. But I didn’t think about myself. It wasn’t up to me to prove a point. It was just up to me to win this match, because we’ve always lost in certain situations. You make your own luck,” Jemimah said during the ceremony the match.

The 25-year-old middle-order batsman further opened up about how her ‘pillars’ continued to support her amid her deteriorating mental state after being dropped from the squad last year. She also reiterated how her faith in the Bible helped her overcome adversity and even led her to the end in what turned out to be one of the most epic chases in the history of women’s ODI cricket.

“First of all, I got dropped from this World Cup last year. This year I came and I thought, okay, I’m going to try. I was in good shape, let’s do more. But things just kept happening one after the other and I had no control over anything. I had such great people around me who believed in me. I cried almost every day on this tour. I wasn’t doing well mentally and I had a lot of anxiety. When I got dropped it was quite a challenge for me. But I think all I had to do was I think initially I was just trying to keep talking to myself. But towards the end I was just quoting a scripture from the Bible. I was just trying to stay calm until the ball was over. When I saw India winning my last match, I don’t think I could stop myself,” she added.

Jemimah spoke about her conversation with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur when both batters were present at the crease. Concluding, the Player of the Match expressed his gratitude to the crowd who came out in abundance to cheer her and the Indian team.

“So then Harman By came, all we talked was about one partnership. We just said, runs are coming. But towards the end, actually, if you want to see that, I couldn’t, I tried to push myself, I couldn’t. Richa keeps talking to me. Deepti, everyone spoke to me and encouraged me. Then Amanjot started to lift me up. I’m so blessed that when I can’t continue, my teammates encourage me to keep going. I can’t take any credit for this. I know I didn’t do anything. Navi Mumbai has always been special to me. I couldn’t ask for anything better. I would like to thank every member who sang, shouted, believed and cheered. Everything. And I knew when I was down and out, but every run they cheered, it got me excited. Thank you to everyone who came in large numbers and everyone who supported,” concluded Jemimah.

India will take on South Africa in the final of the mega event on Sunday, November 2. The match will be played at the same location. This 127-run knock was Jemimah’s third ODI ton and her highest score. She hit 14 fours throughout the innings.
