It is the biggest, busiest and bravest us ever open – and the main table has not even started. UTR Sports brings you insight into the favorites of the men and dark horses to look as the last Grand Slam of the Year starts.
This year the US Open shifted the mixed Doubles tournament to fan week (now week 1) on top of the qualifying events and more entertainment, such as the Stars of the Open, a block party and even a reality dating show. For the first time ever, the main drawing starts on a Sunday, spread over 24 August-7 September.
In case you missed it, the new event with mixed Doubles was a roaring success, in which Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud beat in the final of Wednesday.

Carlos Alcaraz (16.38)
Alcaraz’s comfortable at the US Open is the next level, and his 20% chances to win again in New York shows it. The Spaniard won his first major in only his second performance in New York. Since May, Alcaraz has recorded four of the five events that he played and only lost to Sinner in Wimbledon.
Novak Djokovic (16.32)
Although the 37-year-old Serbian has been beaten off the throne by the younger generation, he is still a competition. Novak Djokovic is looking for Grand Slam No. 25, on a stage where he won four times (most recently in 2023).
2025 US Open men’s singles pull dark horses
Jack Draper (16.14)
With a no. 5 sowing next to his name and 5% chances to win his first major, Jack Draper may seem like a painfully clear dark horse, or even a favorite, but given his novelty in the top Echelon on tour, he is still an underdog. The Indian Wells champion from 2025 reached the semi -final of the US Open – by far its best run at a major last year.

Being in Legcare (15.99)
The 23-year-old Czech is number 21 on the ATP ranking, but in the top 10 according to the UTR rating (no. 8), making it a dark horse in the US Open Hen’s Draw. His run to the Queen’s Club final this summer included a victory over Jack Drape. Just like Draper, Lehecka still finds his rhythm at the Grand Slam level.
Joao Fonseca (15.83)
The 19-year-old Brazilian is lurking in the bottom half of the draw. Although it is on no. 44 on the ATP tour, it is top-20 material per utr rating. He is in part of the draw full of shiny new faces: seeds Tomas Machac and Jakub Mensik.
The UTR Pro Tennis Tour Connection
Ben Shelton (15.91) is one of the 61 players in the US Open Singles Draws who participated in the UTR Pro Tennis Tour (UTR PTT) and one of the 17 in the main table. He is accompanied by people like Tristan Boyer (three-time UTR PTT champion) and Alex Michelsen (two-time UTR PTT champion), as well as Brandon Holt, Ethan Quinn and much more.
Quinn is also a Universal Tennis Foundation Hurd Award Champion from 2024 – The men’s and women’s breaks include eight Hurd Award recipients.
