The FedEx Cup Fall series of the PGA Tour opened with a victory by Scottie Scheffler in a Ryder Cup adjustment on the Procore Championship in Napa, California. This week’s Sanderon Farms Championship in Jackson’s Country Club in Jackson, Miss., Had a different feeling with most of the PGA Tour’s Stars at home.
The twenty-six-year-old South African Garrick Higgo opened with rounds of 65-66 to take a one-shot lead on the weekend. The left -handed supported that with a Saturday to take a lead of two shots in the last round of Sunday.
Steven Fisk makes the closing of Birdie to win Sanderson Farms
Higgo started a slow start on Sunday when Steven Fisk, Danny Walker and Vince Whaley caught him and passed by the time he reached the 12th tee. But Higgo responded with four straight birdies of 13-16 to bind Fisk at 22 below.
The Par-4 17th would turn out to be the separator.
Both players filled their approach shots, but Higgo missed his three-foot Birdie Putt, which allowed Fisk, who could hit his approach of three feet, pushing forward by one on the way to the 18th.
Fisk then hit his approach on the 18th to four feet and rolled into the Birdie to achieve his PGA Tour victory of the first career and a winner control of $ 1.08 million.
