2025 NLDS: How Dave Roberts Koos Los Angeles Dodgers Roster

Philadelphia – For Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts there was no shortage of moving parts when he collected the schedule of the National League Division Series from his team, announced on Saturday prior to Game 1 of the NLDs against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Everything, the way in which the off -days in this series fall to the recovery stout schedules of catcher Will Smith and Infielder/Outfielder Tommy Edman played a role in both the balance and selections.

The most consistent part of the comparison from a Dodgers-Geschiedenispespective is the recording of Clayton Kershaw as a left-handed aid option. A pitcher with a 451/4 ratio of competitions started to relieved games, and 32/7 in the late season will not start in the NLDS. However, that does not mean that he is considered an unimportant part of the Los Angeles plan.

For Dodgers President of baseball activities Andrew Friedman, there is a clear recognition of the risks that presents, since Kershaw has not relieved in the late season since 2018.

“Yes, I would say that there is clearly always someone to that status,” Friedman told reporters prior to Game 1 in Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon. “But to the merit of Kersh, he cuts that timid in a way by saying: Hey, I am here to win whatever it is needed. He likes to see these guys competing. It is clear that he has also done very well this year.

“Usually, when a man is on his way, it’s like, okay, it’s time; you can see it a bit, the performance is really backwards. That is not the case with Kersh. He was a large part of the success we had this year. But to his credit it cut it off very early and just to make this.

Kershaw is one of the five leftists who are willing to throw the Dodgers at a team without a shortage of batters who can hurt them from that side. Although that is especially useful against Bryson Stott, it is worth remembering that Bryce Harper has no real platoon split and Kyle Schwarber, incredible, has become a more effective weapon against left than Righties Two Seasons Running.

“You have learned that you have to make pitches. You have to follow in the right way,” Roberts told reporters about what he expected from that Lefty group. “Yes, I mean, they are good. And they are certainly a momentum team, if they get a momentum, especially in this margin. But you have to make pitches. They are early aggressive. And I think it goes in both sides because we also have some good beating people, and we just have to make pitches.”

The addition of both Dalton Rushing and Ben Rortvedt, the three catchers in total (including Smith) may leave Los Angeles with only 12 pitchers exaggerated. But while Roberts said that Smith is “close”, he pointed out that there will be no traditional rehabilitation period. October baseball means the kind of representatives that he had received in July or August in the small competitions that have to recover from his hand injury, somehow, in the context of the series itself.

“With Will we just didn’t have the chance to build up the rehabilitation, catching five innings, the six innings, the seven, let alone the nine innings,” said Roberts. “And he didn’t catch in four weeks … I try to find a starting point that would play a kind of middle, the piece. There is a chance that he can come in tonight and get a little wet.”

As far as Edman is concerned, he is on the Roster, even starting at second base in game 1. But concern about his ankle also led the deadgers to Roster Hyseong Kim, although the Phillies, respectively, throw a few links in Los Angeles in Los Angeles in Game 1 and 2 – Cristopher Sanchez and Jesus Luzardo.

“I think it will last,” said Roberts about Edman’s ankle. “Don’t get worse. Don’t get much better. I feel that he is going to take him a few at the starter every night. And I will keep an eye on him as the game progresses, if we have to get him off his feet to prepare him for the next.”

The Lefty Starters also pushed the third Honkman Max Muncy to the bank, Kiké Hernández who, instead, used in third place in Game 1, and Roberts said Pregame that he expects Miguel Rojas to get a start on the third base this series.

However, that does not mean that he does not intend to use Muncy.

“Tonight he is a silver bullet,” said Roberts. “I can use it whenever I want at a leverage location, which I think is an advantage … I spoke to Max for this series and said that we clearly knew what we would go to, and he is unclear that everything needed to help win this team – and there could be a big place at any time that the game could change.”
