2025 NL Central Power Rankings: Week 26

Welcome to the 26th week of our NL Central Power Rankings! We will release these rankings every week to assess all five teams and place them one to five. As everyone knows with power ranking, they must be considered as a gospel and are clearly 100% accurate. Let’s rank some teams without further delay!

1. Milwaukee Brewers (94-60); 4-2 this week; 100.0% chance to make late season (baseball reference)

The Brewers still had a solid week and took two of the three against the cardinals before swiping the angels in the middle of the week. They then dropped the series opener on Friday in St. Louis to start their last six-game road trip.

Sal Frelick flashed some strength this week, hit a few gayers and a few doubles while driving in seven and scored seven points, while he .333/.417/.778 hit the team. Caleb Durbin, Danny Jansen and Christian Yelich each added a Homer, while Jake Bauers was hot this week with five more hits (all singles) and a bargain.

Freddy Peralta bounced back from a rough onion to close the angels, allowing one run (a solo -homer) to be closed with 10 strikeouts. Quinn Priester and Brandon Woodruff also handed in strong starts, because the priest gave two points over 5 2/3 innings with 10 strikeouts, and Woo went five innings, making one run stood and nine was beaten. Aaron Ashby, Chad Patrick, Jared Koenig, Joel Payamps and Erick Fedde worked scoreless weeks of De Bullpen.

Milwaukee wraps in St. Louis on Sunday before he goes to San Diego for their last road series with the Padres. Then they will finish the regular seasonal sleeve with three games against the Reds next weekend.

2. Chicago Cubs (88-66); 4-3 this week; 100.0% chance to make late season

The Cubs took two of the three of the rays at home before sweeping the Pirates in Pittsburgh. They have now lost the first two of a four-game set with the Reds in Cincinnati.

This week Michael Busch led the attack with three homers and three Doubles, while Moisé’s Ballesteros struck his first (and second) career homers during a six-hit week. Nico Hoerner led the attack with 11 hits, while Dansby Swanson added eight hits and Ian Happ picked up seven hits, including a few homers.

This week, Colin Rea was 12 1/3 innings about his two starts, causing four points to allow 16. 16. Cad Horton went five innings, making one point with six strikeouts. Jameson Taillon worked six scoreless frames with three strikeouts in its start. Andrew Kittredge, Aaron Civale, Drew Pomeranz, Michael Soroka, Javier Assad, Caleb Thielbar and Taylor Rogers threw scoreless weeks before the bullpen.

The Cubs wrap their last road trip of the year on Sunday in Cincy, because after a day off on Monday they return home for their last two series against the Mets and Cardinals.

3. Cincinnati Reds (78-76); 4-3 this week; 17.7% chance to make late season

The Reds had a strange week, were swept by the A’s in Sacramento, but following two of the three out of the cardinals and winning the first two games of their four-game series with the Cubs this weekend.

Spencer sent three homers this week and cuts .500/.545/1,400 with eight RBIs. Will Benson and Sal Stewart each added a few homers, with Stewart also led the team with eight hits while he .381/.458/.714 cut with six scored points.

Hunter Greene yielded a complete match against the Cubs on Thursday evening and threw nine, while he only allowed one hit and one walk. Brady Singer went 5 2/3 innings with two runs allowed (one earned) with six strikeouts. Connor Phillips took a few victories in relief, a total of 3 2/3 scoreless frames about three performances. Emilio Pagán, Tony Santillan, Chase Burns and Brent Sutter added scoreless bull pen weeks.

The Reds continued their last homing stand against the Cubs and Pirates until Thursday before they go to Milwaukee for the last series of the season.

4. St. Louis Cardinals (75-79); 3-3 this week; <0.1% chance to make late season

This week, the cardinals dropped two of the three against both the Brewers and Reds, but they bounced back to win the series opener on Friday against Milwaukee with a 7-1 final.

Alec Burleson, Brendan Donovan, Iván Herrera and Thomas Saggese housed this week, because that quartet also led the team in hits. Burleson cut .409/.500/.682 with nine hits, including three Doubles; Donovan and Herrera each ended the week with seven hits; And Saggese had nine hits, including a few Doubles. Nolan Arenado led the team with five RBIs on his return of an injury.

Sonny Gray made a few solid starts against the Brewers, making three runs with 15 strikeouts over 11 innings. Michael McGreevy worked seven pointless frames in his outing and eliminated six. Matthew Liberatore and Miles Mikolas also handed in solid outings. Gordon Graceffo led the bullpen with 3 2/3 scoreless innings over three outings, while Jorge Alcala and John King also had scoreless weeks.

St. Louis will finish their last home series this weekend before visiting the Giants and Cubs to complete the season.

5. Pittsburgh Pirates (65-89); 1-5 this week; 0.0% chance to make the late season

The Pirates still had a tough week because they just wait until the season ends grively. They dropped two of the three on the Nationals, were swept by the Cubs and lost Friday’s series opener against the As because they are about to have another 90 loss season.

Joey Bart and Jared Triolo met the only gayers for Pittsburgh this week, because Triolo also led the team with six hits, albeit about 26 bits (.231 battle average). Bryan Reynolds added five hits and Spencer Horwitz hit .308/.471/.462 with four hits and four free runs.

Most starters – including Paul Skenes – had a tough week for Pittsburgh, but that was not the case for Bubba Chandler. Chandler went six innings and allowed one point with seven strikeouts in his outing. Carmen Mlodzinski worked five scoreless frames in two relief outings and threw eight stroke. Kyle Nicolas, Justin Lawrence and Dennis Santana added scoreless weeks for the bullpen.

The Pirates end their last homing position against the As this weekend, because they then set off to play the Reds and Braves in the last week.
