In the first stage of the Playoffs in FedEx Cup 2025, Tommy Fleetwood saw itself again in position to win his first PGA Tour title.
The Englishman played flawless wave through 36 holes and entered the last round of Sunday on TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tenn., With a One-shot lead over Justin Rose and one border with two shots over Scottie Scheffler.
“I just think I would rather be there and not fail than not at all,” Fleetwood said after the third round to give himself a chance for a victory. “So anyway, it’s a good thing. Yes, it hurts if it doesn’t happen for you … Of course it is not my favorite time, as ends at the 18th at that moment. But I practice so hard in my game, and I work so hard and I enjoy being here, so it is the same if you go in 40th place in 40th place.
“As I say, I just look forward to the opportunities and keep giving myself a chance, haunting my dreams, and whether they happen or not tomorrow or the next week or the following week, that’s a different story. But I’m looking forward to it anyway.”
Fleetwood played scratchingly wave early and lost the lead to JJ Spaun and Scheffler when he made it. But Fleetwood released a 33-foot Birdie putt on the 12th hole to even pull with Spaun and Scheffler. He followed that with another Birdie at the age of 13 to take the lead with five holes to play.
But again it was not to be the time of Fleetwood.
Spaun caught Fleetwood with a birdie at 17, while Rose Vier Birdies in a row to tie the two on 16. A sloppy bogey on 17 put Fleetwood a shot behind Rose and Spaun on the way to 18.
Both Rose and Fleetwood made par on the 18th, who ended the Fleetwood tournament and sent Rose to a sudden-dead play-off against Spaun.
Rose and Spaun Parrijden both the first play -off hole and exchanged Birdies on the second.
Then, with a new hole cut on the third, Rose rolled into another Birdie, while Spaun’s attempt to match just slid at the hole, giving Rose his first victory since the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
