The Denza D9 was launched half a year ago in Malaysia and soon became one of the best-selling EV-MPVs in the country, currently second only for the BYD M6. According to the latest data from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), more than 700 units have found more than 700 units this year, so that it is well before the 498 units of the Zeekr 009 and the 314 of the Xpeng X9.
It is not difficult to see why at RM259K-309K is the D9 competitively priced against the RM271K-301K X9 and the RM310K-360K 009, while it is no less luxurious. But the real man (s) to beat is/are the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire-more than 10,300 units of Just the Alphard have been registered this year, making it the 12th best-selling car in Malaysia. Yes, most of them are ‘recon’, but still a long way to go to shoulders with a household name.
However, the D9 did not prevent it from trying, and what an effort. On 5,250 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,920 mm long, it is larger than the Japanese twins, while it is 41 mm longer and 72 mm longer than even the Zeekr 009. The 3,110 mm wheelbase is longer than the 3000 mm of the Toyotas 3,000 mm but the sea seas 3,205 mm. The boot contains 410 liters; Fold all back seats down for 2,310 liters.
Bosses, prepare to be spoiled properly. The individual Power-Adjustable seats in the middle row in Business Class style have 10-point massaging, One-Touch backlining and touchscreens built into the armrests. A 6.8 -Leriter fridge keeps your drinks at any temperature that you like between -6 and 50 degrees C.
In the front there is a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, ‘Hi Denza’ speech control, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android car and a 50-watt wireless charger. The Denza D9 also receives a full series of advanced auxiliary systems from the driver-inclusive level 2 semi-autonomous driving and disus-c adaptive damping on the Premium AWD variant for a smoother, more comfortable ride.
The RM259K Advanced FWD has one 313 PS/360 Nm Voormotor, while the RM309K Premium AWD that plus has a 61 PS/110 Nm rear engine to give you 374 PS and 470 Nm of torque. Thanks to an LFP battery of 103.6 kWh knife (30-80% in 30 minutes at the maximum 166 kW DC), the Denza D9 WLTP-Rated reached 520 km for the FWD and 480 km before the AWD.
Guarantees? Six years/150,000 km for the vehicle, eight years/160,000 km for the battery and eight years/150,000 km for the drive motor and motor controller. There is also a cross-border after-sales warranty program from Malaysia-Singapore-Thailand-Mak you don’t worry if you often travel on these three countries.
The big question is: should the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire be worried? Jonathan Lee tries to find out in this in-depth video review of the Range-Topping Premium AWD. Press the game as soon as you have finished making that coffee.
