This week we cannot be the only ones who have a case of post-annual service blues this week. Not in the least because more than 7,000 Phers descended on Bicester Motion last Saturday to make our second -year annual bash, powered by Michelin (or our third if you have PH25 in 2023) the largest, most spectacular event we have ever done.
Such as a Glastonbury -Line -Up – only with some of the world’s largest music acts that are being replaced by some of the world’s largest machines – the theme threads for this year’s annual service were a commitment to not only shine a light on new cars, but also to give you more reason to explore last year. From the moment you walked through the entrance and the paddock, you would undoubtedly have noticed the exotic and rarities that the pendant will be parked. Among them were a speed Yellow 993 Porsche 911 RS Clubsport, an Aston Martin V12 Wreef Zagato shooting brake and a V12 Toyota Century, while Matt Bird’s own 986 Boxster – and absolutely not Tim Harvey’s Manthey -TUNED GT3 RS – Put attention.
Elsewhere in the Paddock, Richard Porter’s Honda Beat closed to the Vauxhall Eagle Quest Limo outside the Smith and Sniff Stall, and just next door at our new PH mode was the great McMurtry Speirling, the car that stood the blister link record, the package of the loud pier-pier-planking. Supercat, Jaguar XJR-15 and the home brew Larkin Feroxa that has documented Pher Tribetype40 on the forums for the past three years. Moreover, we heard from Formula 1 commentator Harry Benjamin, a hilariously unfiltered Tim Harvey and Charles Rainford, plus a live podcast of the aforementioned Smith and sniffing to finish an excellent line -up of car legends.

That is of course just a taste of what the paddock had to see. More was in the store when you continued in Bicester Motion, with the adapted lawn with everything from a BMW Z4 GT3 racer to a literal tank, while the opposite future classics were represented by the R35 Nissan GT-R, Toyota Gr Yaris, MK7 VW Golf Golfse-Klasse. Further on it was supercar grass field, as expected, full of machines that most can only dream. Cars such as the new Ferrari 12Cilindri, Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica and (Manual) Honda NSX, who were near the Lawn Charles and Dean and his mix of exotica.
Finally, we had areas for the right classics, from a BMW 3.0 CSL to Juan Manuel Fangio II’s Jaguar XJR-15 who won his support race in the British Grand Prix of 1991, as well as a Gazon dedicated to modern classics such as the B7 Audi RS4, Lancia V6. And for those who would like to get some time behind the wheel, Alpine was at hand to offer teasing drives of his new A290 Hot Hatch.
There were not only many cars in the past and present to Ogeren, but this year’s annual service also saw a good part of the announcements. Twisted appeared with its 6.2-liter V8-driven Range Rover Classic, as well as his Bonkers Baja Tbug, while analogue Automotive chose to announce a lifted and bicycle rack-shod Terra Elise. That was not the only Herstomodde S1 on the spot, when Lotus specialist HPE brought his 500 hp-per-Ton SV Elise R500, complete with a gigantic Venturi at the back. Then came the unveiling of the carbon body that MST will use for his EVO X. Although it is not yet strictly a complete car, an MK2 Ford escort in bare carbon is still something to see and the anticipation levels for the last thing to steer through the roof.

What is more, we have announced our shiny new pistonheads app at the annual service, although we forgive you if you have missed it see how much was going on. It is of course free to download – and if you do that at 11:59 PM BST on Sunday, August 17, have a chance to win some Michelin tires. Just beat the blue banner at the top of the home screen and answer the question to enter.
However, if you have completely missed this year’s annual service, don’t worry. Our newly lifted podcast, The Gassing Station, will soon have highlights of the stage chats of the day, the first of which goes live on 19 August.
