Skowhegan, me -A pair of $ 17,000-plus divisions of the Maine Sire Stakes for 2-year-old pacing fillings on Saturday (August 16) closed the week of Harness Racing on the Skowhegan State Fair with a Bakker’s dozen dozen dozen dozing for their own piece of the cake.

In the early $ 17,123 non-wider event the Western Maverick Filly perfectly beautiful went out for an early lead and put comfortable early fractions from: 31 and 1: 03.3. Director Aaron Hall started to feel the pressure when the field approached the 1: 33.4 third stanza when director Kevin Switzer Jr. The undefeated anti -fools, Snowonthepines, had in his neck.

Around the last turn, Hall kept its load on her toes and managed to keep the aggressor at a distance to the shadow of the wire where Snowonthepines came to win a neck in 2: 02.3.

Trained by Marc Tardif for owner/breeder Leighton Property, it was the fifth consecutive victory for the daughter of Dude’s The Man.

She is a Firefly (Nick Graffam) third.

In the second division of $ 17,299 for Frosh Filly Pacers, the battle for the front dictated the outcome.

When the gate jumped both Ekorus (Nick Graffam) and DudelooklikeAfily (Switzer Jr.), shot the lead, with the first the last to take the point for a hard -fought: 30.4 opening panel. While they passed that first quarter of pole Ekorus immediately came out again in an attempt to ‘resume’. In the top of the turn, however, Switzer hit the gas and graffam denied the front, causing him to return to the two-hole.

With Dudelookslike who hit half in 1: 01.4, the rest of the field was shoveling, but Ekorus was tight on Switzer’s helmet at the third station of 1:32.

Around the last turn, Ekorus was back outside and moved, and despite a little ‘drift’ in the track, the PaceSetter passed and ensured the victory with a quarter length in 2:03, a new life.

Bred, trained and co-owned by Mike Graffam with William Arnold and Martha Holden, she paid $ 3.40 to win her second race of the year.

Graceofspaces (Dave Ingraham) was a rapidly closing second; Heymickeyofine (John Nason) finished third.

The Maine Sire Stakes takes a weekly break and then returns to the Windsor Fair on Sunday (August 24) with the 3-year-old Merrieveeulen, followed by the 2-year-old male pacers on Monday (August 25).
