Few things are frustrating in golf than ruining a solid ride with a matte approach. The worst thing is when you don’t even give the ball a chance with a shot that is poorly hit. It is a feeling that is all too usual for weekend fighters, and it keeps them back from the consistent shooting of lower scores.
There are two main missions when it comes to poor contact: the shot and the diluted shot. We have treated what a shot shot caused, but today we go in the opposite direction if we share some advice about how we can watch the top.
In the text below, GolfTec’s director of the quality of education Josh Troyer explains what Optimotion tells us about the causes of topshots and offers solutions to repair them.
Why you surpass the ball
If you border the golf ball, it is usually not random – there are two common swivel errors behind it and both can be repaired.
1. Hips hanging back
One of the biggest problems is a bad hip movement during the swing. Instead of shifting the hips to the goal, golfers will hang back, leading to poor low-point control.
“The best players in the world, when they hit, their hips are around 3.1 centimeters to the target,” says Troyer. “Golfers who surpass the golf ball are usually more like the target in all those places.”
In other words, you probably stay too far back. That lack of forward swing ensures that you instinctively try to prevent you from touching the ball behind the ball – which leads to the next number.
2. The chicken wing
To prevent them from pouring the ball, many golfers pull their arms to their bodies – resulting in the dreaded chicken wing.
“In fact, they pull their arms closer to their bodies so that the club does not hit the ground,” says Troyer. “If you do that and you don’t timely timer it, then the Sweet Spot becomes too high and you surpass it.”
You have to keep your arms extended with impact if you want to swing efficiently, and the chicken wing does not allow that.
How do you solve these problems?
A simple solution for the problem of your hips that are left behind is to set them a touch closer to the target in advance. When you address the ball, try to bump your hips a few centimeters closer to the target.
With your hips set in advance, try to make some smaller half swings. And when you do this, concentrate on your hips to the target and keep your arms extended due to impact.
“Try to squeeze your elbows very close together while you hit the ball while you push your hips to the goal,” says Troyer.
If you can, you are well on your way to eliminate shot forever.
